Skanska receives two new assignments in New York totaling USD 65 M, about SEK 675 M Skanska's U.S. subsidiaries, Gottlieb Skanska and Slattery Skanska, have landed new contracts in New York City. The first involves the rehabilitation of the DeKalb Avenue Subway Station for USD 33.8 M. The second is for the rehabilitation and upgrade of the North River Wastewater Treatment Plant for USD 31 M. Located in Brooklyn, the DeKalb Avenue Subway Station project involves the total rehabilitation of the entire facility to improve function and aesthetics. This includes installing new street utilities, elevators, wall and floor tile and other architectural finishes; upgrading electrical systems; and constructing new access stairways and mezzanine platforms. Gottlieb Skanska, the sponsor, and Slattery Skanska will perform the contract in a 70/30 joint venture for a total of USD 33.8 M. The project will begin immediately and is scheduled for completion within 38 months. The customer is New York City Transit, which has been a repeat client of Skanska for many years. Gottlieb Skanska will upgrade the North River Wastewater Treatment Plant. The assignment, valued at USD 31.3 M, is a rehabilitation of the overall facility. The work scope requires placement of concrete and installation of steel as well as the procurement, installation, testing and commissioning of equipment for mechanical systems, including odor control and process systems. The project also calls for the construction and installation of equipment for a new chemical feed system. The work will begin this month and will be completed within 36 months. The customer is the New York City Department of Environmental Protection, another repeat client of Skanska. The North River Wastewater Treatment Plant, located on Hudson River, was originally constructed by Slattery Skanska in 1988. North River serves west Manhattan and has a capacity to treat up to 340 million gallons a day. Skanska has a total order backlog in the US of USD 10 billion, SEK 106 billion. During the first six months of this year, the order backlog increased 49 percent. Skanska's American operations have thereby secured contracts that are equivalent to nearly two years of construction work. For further information please contact: Joseph M.
