Skanska secures hospital assignment in Oregon, in U.S., valued at USD 65 M, SEK 605 M Skanska has been awarded a contract to build and renovate two hospital campuses in Oregon, in the U.S. The contract is valued at USD 65 M or approximately SEK 605 M. The customer is Cascade Health Services. The order will be included in the order bookings for the fourth quarter of 2002. The project will be conducted by the Skanska USA Building's Oregon office. The contract consists of the expansion and renovation of Cascade's hospital facilities at the St. Charles Medical Center, in Bend, Oregon, and at the Central Oregon Community Hospital, in Redmond. The assignment includes a total of 27,000 sq. m. (290,000 square feet), of which 18,500 sq. m. (200,000 square feet) involves new construction. The new buildings will house such facilities as a cancer treatment center, a rehabilitation center, a childcare center and a birthing center. The project is viewed by Cascade Health Service as an important step in its endeavor to offer the best medical care in central Oregon. Total construction spending in the U.S. healthcare sector, including additions and renovation work, as well as new construction, was 12 percent higher through the first seven months of 2002 than during January - July of 2001.
