Skanska secures major environmental project to construct SEK 140 M wastewater treatment plant for Stora Enso

Skanska secures major environmental project to construct SEK 140 M wastewater treatment plant for Stora Enso Skanska has been selected to build a biological wastewater treatment plant at the Stora Enso pulp mill in Skutskär, Sweden. The order is worth approximately SEK 140 M. This is a turnkey project covering everything, from pre-engineering studies and design planning to startup of the finished plant. The structure will include one aeration basin and two basins for sedimentation, three-kilometers- long, inlet-pressure pipeline and electrification and automation installations. The plant, one of the first of its kind in Sweden, will have the capacity to handle 66.000 m3 of process water per day. The project, which will be conducted in the form of a cooperation between Skanska's Finnish subsidiary, Tekra Oy, and Skanska Sweden's Industry- Environment-Energy group, IME, is part of Skanska's long-term plans to develop its services within the environmental area. Through this partnership, Skanska can offer Tekra's spearhead competence in environmental technology combined with Skanska's long experience of providing construction services for Swedish industry. Tekra Oy has some 25 years of experience in building treatment plants for pulp and paper mills in Finland. The company has accounted for about half of the Finnish market in this turnkey segment since 1984. Notable customers include Stora Enso, UPM-Kymmene and Metsä-Botnia, among other leading forest products companies. This is Tekra's first project in the Swedish market.
