Skanska secures road project in Finland valued at SEK 450 M Skanska has secured a contract to assume responsibility for the extension of the mainroad N6 in Finland. The contract is valued at FIM 290 M, approximately SEK 450 M. The customer is the Finnish National Road Administration. The assignment comprises the design and project management of the extension of the 44-kilometer main road between Koskenkylä and Kouvola in southeast Finland. Design work will commence immediately and the road- construction work, which is scheduled for completion in November 2004, will start at the beginning of next year. The project is being conducted in close cooperation with Skanska Tekra Oy and the southeastern region of the Finnish Road Administration, in order to achieve the most efficient design and construction. Skanska has been responsible for a long series of prestigious road projects in Finland, including construction of the Nordic Region's first privately financed motorway. The motorway between Järvenpää, outside Helsinki, and Lahti, was opened a year ahead of schedule in 1999. As one of the investors in the road company Nelostie Oy, Skanska had responsibility for finance, design, construction, and also operation and maintenance, for this BOT project.
