Skanska secures school project in London for GBP 30 M, approximately SEK 310 M

Skanska has secured an assignment to design and construct a school in Ilford, in Northeast London. The contract amounts to approximately GBP 30 M, approximately SEK 310 M, which will be included in order bookings for the first quarter of 2011. The customer is the schools authority in the London Borough of Redbridge.

Skanska will be responsible for the technical design and construction of the Isaac Newton Academy, which will accommodate about 1,250 students aged between 11 and 19 years. 

The project comprises an 11,500-square-meter building, divided into four schools for various levels. Each school will have separate entrances and schoolyards.

The school building will be designed and constructed to meet stringent environmental requirements, with a particular focus on energy efficiency.

Construction work will commence immediately and will be completed in time for the new school year in summer 2012.
