Skanska sells dredging companies Skanska is divesting the dredging companies Skanska Dredging AB and Skanska Ruoppaus OY. The profit from the sale amounts to SEK 50 M. The buyer is the Dutch company Boskalis Westminster International b.v., a subsidiary of Royal Boskalis Westminster n.v., one of the leading players in the international dredging sector. The sale is subject to regulatory approvals. The purchase includes Skanska Dredging's and Skanska Ruoppaus' fleet of five dredgers, barges and other equipment. The companies have 60 and 20 employees respectively, and the existing employment contracts will not be affected by the transfer of shares. "With a very specialized dredging fleet in a limited geographical market it is difficult to find enough opportunities. A global dredging group, on the other hand, is in a much better position to utilize these resources in a more efficient way. For Skanska to be competitive in the global dredging environment would require too large an investment, therefore we have decided to divest of our specialized dredging fleet," says Thomas Pehrson, Vice President, Skanska International Civil Engineering.
