Skanska sells elementary school in Växjö, Sweden, for about SEK 300M

Skanska has sold an elementary school in Telestadshöjden, Växjö, to the real estate company Hemsö. The school, which is under construction, will also have a preschool and a sports hall. The sale amount is about SEK 300M and the transaction will be recorded in the Commercial Property Development stream in the fourth quarter of 2020.

Rental agreements have previously been signed for the operation of the school with the International English School and with the Knowledge Preschool for the operation of the preschool.

The school will have a gross area of ​​just over 8,000 square meters and it will be developed in close collaboration with the tenants. Sustainability will be a guiding light in the project. In order to create a good school environment, aspects like healthy material choices, good ventilation and proximity to vegetation are emphasized. The intention is to make the school environmentally certified according to LEED Silver.

The school project forms part of the urban development project Telestadshöjden, where Skanska and Boklok together with Växjö municipality are developing mixed housing.

The school will be completed during the third quarter of 2022.
