Skanska signs contract for to replace the Bayonne Bridge in the northeast of USA for USD 401 M, about SEK 2.6 billion
Skanska has signed a USD 401 M, about SEK 2.6 billion, contract with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey to replace the Bayonne Bridge, which connects Staten Island, NY with Bayonne, NJ. The project is a joint venture with Kiewit construction company. The total project value is USD 743 M, about SEK 4.8 billion. Skanska will include its full 54 percent share of the contract, totaling USD 401 M, about SEK 2.6 billion, in order bookings for Skanska USA Civil for the second quarter 2013.
The joint venture team will replace the main span roadway and bridge approach structures of the Bayonne Bridge. The scope of work also includes raising the roadway of the Bayonne Bridge. The bridge will also receive a new electrical system, paint, and drainage systems.
Construction work has already started, and is scheduled for completion in March 2017.
