Skanska signs major lease at Capitol Tower in Houston, Texas, USA
Skanska has signed a 15-year lease with Waste Management Inc. for 284,000 square feet (26,384 square meters) for its corporate headquarters, at the Capitol Tower office development in Houston, Texas, USA. Waste Management, Inc. will take occupancy in 2020. With this transaction, the office portion of the building is now 72 percent leased.
Currently under construction, Capitol Tower is a 35-story office tower in a prime downtown Houston location with about 70,000 square meters of office space and 2,400 square meters of retail space. The office is the first project in Texas to reach LEED v4 Platinum precertification from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). The building will use 25 percent less energy than typical facilities. Skanska began construction in April 2017 and expects to complete construction in the second quarter of 2019.
Skanska USA Commercial Development has invested about USD 2 billion, about SEK 18 billion, in projects since 2009 and has developed corporate headquarters for Bank of America, Brooks Sports, PwC and Tommy Bahama.
