Skanska to build bypass in Charlottesville, USA, for USD 82 M, about SEK 560 M

Skanska, in a joint venture with Branch Highways, has been awarded a USD 135.9 M contract from the Virginia Department of Transportation for construction of a 10 kilometer long bypass for Route 29 in Albemarle County, near Charlottesville, USA. Skanska’s share of the contract is 60 percent, which amounts to USD 82 M, about SEK 560 M. The order will be included in order bookings for USA Civil in the second quarter of 2012.

The project includes the construction of a new four-lane divided, limited access bypass to the west of the existing Route 29, designed to relieve congestion on the existing roadway and improve through traffic.

Work will begin in July with scheduled completion in July 2016.
