Skanska to build housing for 2001 Nordic World Ski Championships in Lahti for FIM 130 M, about SEK 190 M Skanska's Finnish subsidiary Skanska Finland Oy is developing and constructing housing for the competitors at the 2001 Nordic World Ski Championships in Lahti. The total value of the project is FIM 130 M, about SEK 190 M. The customer is the three Finnish housing companies Sato, VVO and YH-Kodit. The project includes 46 owner apartments that Skanska is building and selling. In total Skanska will construct 256 of the 290 apartments in the World Championship village where 800 competitors will be housed during the event in February 2001. Thereafter, the housing will be converted to tenant-owner, owner and rental apartments. The housing is to be ready for occupancy in December 2000. Thereafter, Skanska will be responsible for management and operations during the period January through March 2001. After the World Championships, Skanska will renovate the apartments to new condition before the housing is turned over to the customers. The village, comprising multi-story apartment buildings and row houses will be a miniature city with all forms of services and in an ideal setting beside Lake Vesijärvi and near the Lahti ski stadium.
