Skanska has been contracted to build a new post office terminal in Norway. The contract amounts to NOK 570 M, about SEK 660 M, which is included in order bookings for the fourth quarter. The customer is the Norwegian Postal Service (Posten).

The assignment is for the new 70,000-square-meter eastern terminal in Lörenskog, northeast of Oslo. The project comprises land preparation, laying the foundation and building the structural framework. Skanska is responsible for the concrete and steel elements, including the roof, while the façade is not included in the contract. Broadening a two-kilometer stretch of the 163 highway from two to four lanes is also included as part of the project.

The new terminal will replace a post terminal in central Oslo, through which about three million items of mail pass each day.

Preparations begin at year-end. Construction work starts in spring 2007 and is scheduled to be completed at the end of 2008.

Skanska Norway is active in building construction and civil engineering projects. The unit reported sales last year amounting to about SEK 10.5 billion, with some 4,300 employees. Skanska is also active in Norway in the development of residential projects and in PPP projects.
