Skanska to construct hospital in Louisiana for USD 470 M, about SEK 3 billion

Skanska and their joint venture partner MAPP Construction have secured the assignment to construct phase one of the new University Medical Center in New Orleans for the State of Louisiana. The contract amounts to USD 522 M. Skanska’s share of the project is 90 percent, which amounts to USD 470 M, about SEK 3 billion. The order will be included in the bookings for USA Building in the fourth quarter of 2011.

The University Medical Center will be a new, state-of-the-art academic Medical Care Campus. Major project components of the phase one contract include:

-       52 000 square-meters, 424-bed in-patient hospital towers

-       An adjoining 70 000 square-meters  diagnostic and treatment center

-       150 000 square meters of associated site work including utility/infrastructure installation, lighting, roadways and parking.

Work has started and the hospital is expected to open in February 2015.
