Skanska to construct the world’s largest cable test facility for ABB in Karlskrona, Sweden, for SEK 400 M
Skanska has signed a contract with ABB AB on constructing test facilities for high voltage cables. The facilities will be built at the ABB High Voltage Cable site in Karlskrona, Sweden. The contract is worth SEK 400 M, which will be included in order bookings for Skanska Sweden in the third quarter 2013.
The project comprises construction of about 12,000 square meters facilities in total, and is a part of the ABB investments for increased production capacity at the Karlskrona site.
The construction work will occupy about 100 workers and construction start is planned for autumn 2013. The buildings will be completed at the end of 2015.
Skanska Sweden is one of Sweden’s largest construction companies, with operations in building and civil-engineering construction. The business unit has approximately 11,000 employees and revenue in 2012 amounted to approximately SEK 30 billion.
