Skanska to construct university in Norway for SEK 346 M Skanska's new Norwegian subsidiary, Selmer Skanska, has been contracted to extend the university at Tromsö, in northern Norway. The contract is valued at SEK 346 M, or NOK 315 M. The customer is the government authority Statsbygg. The contract involves lecture halls for the law faculty holding 500 students. The facilities will include a complete courtroom seating. The project comprises six buildings linked by glazed corridors. Total floor space is 38,000 square meters. Work begins immediately, with completion scheduled for December 2003. Selmer Skanska, which is Norway's largest construction services company, has been part of the Skanska Group since mid-2000. Selmer Skanska, with about 4,600 employees, had sales in 2000 of about SEK 8.9 billion. The order backlog at December 31, 2000 amounted to SEK 5.2 billion.
