Skanska has signed a contract with the New York City Department of Transportation (NYCDOT) to rehabilitate the iconic Manhattan Bridge. The contract is worth USD 76 M, about SEK 675 M, which will be included in the US order bookings for the third quarter of 2018.
The bridge, which was originally built in 1909, is the most heavily traveled of the East River bridges, and accommodates more than 85,000 vehicles, 4,000 bicyclists, and 340,000 transit riders on an average weekday.
