Tidewater Skanska Unit to Construct Major Colorado Cement Plant Expansion CDK Contracting Company, a Tidewater Skanska unit, has been awarded a USD 70 million (approximately SEK 580 million) contract to construct an expansion of the Holnam Inc. cement plant at Portland, Colorado. The project will be engineered by Holderbank Engineering Canada Ltd. and major equipment is being supplied to Holnam by Krupp Polysius Corporation. Construction will include a complete new 5,400 metric tons per day cement production line including raw material - grinding, blending, storage and milling; a twin string 350 feet high preheater/separator tower, a kiln, storage silos, finish/grinding mill and loading equipment. Work will start immediately with a completion in the first quarter of 2001. To ensure a successful project the team of owner, engineer, equipment manufacturer and contractor have committed to a "partnering" approach which starts with value engineering during the design process and will continue as a team effort throughout construction. Safety, quality, environmental, cost and schedule targets have been adopted by all the team partners.
