The 2012 Internet Retailer Top 500 report was just released and revealed that now over 20% of the some of the US’s largest internet retailers are using Skava’s omni-commerce platform to develop mobile, tablet, Facebook and in-store solutions. Combined, these clients generate over $30 billion in online sales.

Since 2008, San Francisco based Skava has been providing mobile solutions to retailers.  Since then, they have continued to innovate their platform in response all the emerging channels, winning multiple awards for their mobile websites and Facebook campaigns. This year they released the first retail website fully optimized for tablet and are working with a number of major retailers on their in-store technologies.

Founder Arish Ali responded “When retailers first began to see significant traffic hitting their website from mobile, many retailers went with what seemed to a quick and easy solution and as with many new industries, had a number of headaches with their first attempts.  Now that mobile web is becoming more significant and retailers are getting a better understanding of the channel, they are looking to build more custom and feature rich mobile websites which are really optimized for the form factor and are really primed to engage their customers and drive sales. In addition, retailers want to be sure their investment is ‘future proofed’ and can be reused across any other channel that has become significant now or that will become in the future.”

Skava is now working with many of its clients on turning the tablet into the ultimate sales associate tool or creating engaging in-store experiences for their customers on larger screen devices.

CTO and co-founder Sudha Varadarajan commented “In these challenging economic times, we see that those retailers who embrace the emerging channels, perform stronger than their competition and move up the Internet Retailer Top 500 ranking.  We have always been passionate about staying at the forefront of technology and as our clients are some of the biggest retailers in America, if not the world, it is important for us to be always looking into ‘what’s next’. For us it is imperative for us to ensure that our platform is ready to embrace and adapt to whatever comes over the horizon.”

2012 has seen a large demand for tablet optimized websites and Skava’s next product launch aspires to revolutionize the way catalogs are presented on the tablet.
