SKF equips teams in 2013 Formula One season

With the start of the Formula One World Championship, SKF announces that it will equip the majority of the F1 cars with wheel bearings, making the company the leader in this bearing application for Formula One single seaters.

In addition to drawing on its five technology platforms (Bearings and units, Seals, Mechatronics, Services, and Lubrication Systems) SKF also taps into the knowledge gained from maintaining the longest running technical partnership in the sport of Formula One with Scuderia Ferrari, whose main brand has been recently recognized as the world's most powerful one*. SKF racing solutions are engineered to deliver performance to meet the demands of the most extreme conditions of the highest categories of motorsports competitions.

The Formula One World Championship serves as an important test bed for SKF in order to transfer the developed technology into offers for the general automotive industry as well as to other industry applications.

The official technical partnership with Scuderia Ferrari includes supply of bearings for wheel ends, suspension, transmission, gear applications and KERS, the Kinetic Energy Recovery System, as well as sealing solutions and engineering services.
