New IT solution from SKF: Wireless monitoring system SKF has developed a wireless sensor system for monitoring of vibrations in rotating equipment in process and manufacturing industries. The new system provides customers with comprehensive on-line process information and is aimed at improving productivity and safety. It reinforces SKF's leading position in the field of industrial condition monitoring. The heart of the system is an SKF Condition Monitoring vibration sensor that is attached to a machine. The signals are processed and wirelessly transmitted to a base station connected to a PC where further processing and analyses are performed by SKF's proprietary software. The system detects damage and protects the machinery from damages caused by bearing, lubrication and gear mesh problems and other machine faults. The sensor can transmit signals to a distance of at least 100 metres and has advanced built-in features such as frequency hopping and automatic error correction to provide reliable communications in all kinds of industrial environments. SKF is a worldwide provider of products and advanced technology for condition monitoring and data acquisition in industry. Integrated maintenance solutions are also offered to a wide range of industries. Göteborg, September 25, 2000 Aktiebolaget SKF (publ.)
