SKF acquires service company in the US railway industry SKF acquires the US company, Roller Bearing Industries (RBI), located in Elisabethtown, Kentucky. RBI is one of the leading rail bearing service companies supplying reconditioned wheel set bearings to the North American railroads. RBI, with some 85 employees, was established in 1980 and has an annual turnover of around SEK 100 million. - This acquisition will allow us to strengthen our position in North America, and further develop SKF's global leadership in this industry, says Egon Ekdahl, Head of SKF's Railway Business. SKF is the world's leading supplier of wheel set bearings and boxes as well as bearings for traction motors and transmissions. SKF's recent developments in mechatronics include sensors that are integrated into bearing units for measurement of speed, temperature and wheel set vibration.
