SKF actuators in green hybrid yacht

Report this content

SKF provides a customized linear actuator for the clutch mechanism between the generator and diesel motor in the new Greenline hybrid yacht from Slovenian Seaway Group, one of the world’s leading boat development companies.

The Greenline hybrid yacht, which has already received a number of environmental and “boat of the year” awards, combines the power generation from solar panels on the roof of the yacht with a regular diesel engine.

In electric mode, the Greenline hybrid yacht is completely emission-free while in diesel mode, the yacht’s specially designed hull helps reduce the consumption of fuel per nautical mile, thus contributing to also considerably reduce the total CO2 emissions from the boat.

- As a part of our BeyondZero® strategy we are committed to developing new sustainable products and solutions that minimize the impact on the environment and we are happy to be part of this project, says Tom Johnstone, SKF President and CEO.

SKF’s electro-mechanical linear actuators enable precise, controlled and repeatable push/pull movement in linear drive applications. In this case the actuator has been customized to the requirements of the supplier of the yacht’s hybrid diesel-electric power generation system.
