SKF appoints new Executive Vice President

SKF appoints new Executive Vice President Tom Johnstone, President of the SKF Group's Automotive Division, has been appointed an Executive Vice President of AB SKF, effective July 1, 1999. At the same time, he will in addition assume responsibility for the Group's Seals Division, three fourths of which is automotive-related. The current President of the Seals Division, Sten Malmström, has been appointed President of the Group's American subsidiary, SKF USA Inc., effective July 1, 1999. He succeeds Krister Peil, also an Executive Vice President of AB SKF, who is retiring. The Group Sourcing staff unit, in which the Group's Purchasing, IT Services and Logistics Services operations are assembled, will be dissolved with the departure of Hans-Göran Persson, who is leaving the SKF Group at midyear to take up another appointment. Responsibility for Purchasing will be transferred to Kaj Thorén, Group Business Development, Logistics Services to Phil Knights, the Service Division, and IT Services to Gunnar Gremlin, Executive Vice President, AB SKF.
