SKF appoints Rakesh Makhija as President, Asia

The Asian region has developed very positively in recent years and has become an increasingly important market for the SKF Group. Eight of the nine factories which the SKF Group has started over the last years are in this region. In order to support the continuous development of the Group's business in the region, Rakesh Makhija, presently Managing Director SKF India Limited, has been appointed President, Asia. In his new role Rakesh Makhija will have an overall coordinating responsibility for the region and will be responsible for developing an efficient infrastructure for the Group to support the continued growth. The operational structure will remain with the Divisions. Rakesh Makhija will be based in Shanghai and report to Tom Johnstone, SKF President and CEO. He will also become member of the SKF Group Management. The appointment is effective as of 1 January 2010. Mr Rakesh Makhija has a Bachelor of Technology in Chemical Engineering and has been employed by SKF since 2002. He has previously held a position as Managing Director, Honeywell Ltd, India.
