SKF has won two major maintenance contracts in Brazil

SKF has won two major maintenance contracts in Brazil Two of Brazil's largest companies, The Vortorantim Group and Companhia Vale do Rio Doce (CVRD) have decided to introduce SKF's reliability and predictive maintenance services. The contracts represent a value of some USD 5 million. The Vortorantim Group, one of Brazil's largest industrial groups in paper, cement and metallurgy has signed two five-year contracts with SKF Service for its VCP paper division facilities in Jacareì and Piracicaba. These contracts go beyond providing SKF's traditional offering of bearings and related products to include predictive and proactive reliability maintenance, SKF condition monitoring hardware and software for data collection, monitoring and control, IT equipment for connection to the local companies network and lubricants. The two plants produce over 300,000 tons of various types of paper annually. CVRD has signed a two-year contract with SKF to perform predictive maintenance on all the equipment at its Tubaraõ terminal from which 80 million tons of iron ore are exported every year. In this very harsh environment effective ongoing maintenance is the key to ensure a smooth production flow. SKF Service will monitor and collect information from some 13 000 points at the terminal and provide the analysis for operation maintenance scheduling.
