SKF is investing approximately 400 million Swedish kronor in its facilities in Göteborg for a further increase of capacity. Investments include a new production line for large size bearings, a new plant for the heat treatment of components for the new production line as well as new equipment for the production of rolling elements.

SKF in Göteborg supplies products to the mining, energy, pulp and paper industries, among others. The production volume has grown considerably during the last few years thanks to the strong sales development of the company’s products.

The new production line for large size bearings will deliver products mainly to the European market. It is expected to be ready for production during 2010.

The new investment will mean that a further 40 people will be needed for the plant in Göteborg. A number of measures to make the production more energy efficient will also be implemented.

This new investment of 400 million Swedish kronor is in addition to the one announced in February last year, also aimed at increased production. The construction and installations as a result of that investment are ongoing and expected to be completed by the end of the year.
