SKF invests in China Dalian factory capacity to be redoubled

SKF announced today at its Technical Press day in Shanghai, the decision to increase the manufacturing capacity for large and medium size bearings in China.

This is in order to support the continuous business growth in China and other parts of Asia, especially in the areas of renewable energy, metalworking, mining, construction and industrial transmission industries.

This additional capacity will be made at the new SKF factory in Dalian, Liaoning Province, in the northeast of China, as a second phase of the project launched in April 2005. The new investment amounts to RMB 580 million (around SEK 500 million). A 25,000 sq. m. facility will be added adjacent to the current factory and it is expected to be in operation during 2009, thus doubling the current manufacturing capacity.

The number of employees will increase from the current 240 to a total of about 600 people at the completion of this second phase.

SKF Dalian won earlier this year the 2007 Dalian Preferred Employer Award in competition with more than 100 companies.
