SKF opens development centre for two-wheelers in India SKF has decided to set up a development centre for two-wheelers, located in Bangalore, India. The decision to set up the centre is based on the importance of India as a two-wheeler market and by the fact that of the 24 million two-wheelers produced globally every year, 20 millions come from Asia. The centre will focus on the development of completely new technologies, as well as on optimisation of the existing product range. It will support the SKF two-wheeler customers worldwide with competences and facilities such as application engineering, product and system design, advanced calculation and simulation, manufacturing of prototypes, testing and validation. With this investment SKF strengthens its role as a global partner to the two-wheeler industry as well as its commitment to the Asian Market and in particular India. The centre will be part of the SKF Electrical Division and the initial number of employees will be 10 and the investment to equip the centre will be some 10 MSEK.
