SKF serves vessels throughout the world SKF is to become the exclusive supplier of bearings and bearing-related products to the world's leading distributor of spare parts to the international shipping sector. An agreement has been signed with the Norwegian company Unitor, which is expanding its product range with SKF's rolling bearings and service in order to comply with customer demands. The cooperation will strengthen SKF's position in the maritime market and sales is expected to grow solidly over the next couple of years. Unitor's choice of partner was determined by access through SKF to a worldwide logistics system and strong local support. SKF's products will be delivered to Unitor's customers, who are represented by more than 17 000 vessels in nearly 1 000 ports. Unitor guarantees fast delivery to its customers all over the world. In order for this to function, the company works with a range of products from companies that are the leaders in their respective fields. These products must undergo extensive tests in maritime conditions before they are offered to customers. Approximately 500 of SKF's most commonly used rolling bearings can now be delivered directly from Unitor's central warehouse facility in Rotterdam and from a number of regional Unitor storage units. The rest of the Group's product range, consisting of more than 20 000 variants, can also be supplied at short notice. The emphasis in the range will be on deep groove ball bearings and maintenance equipment, but monitoring systems and maintenance service are also of potential interest.
