SKF supplies bearings and seals for Ford's new Mondeo SKF continues to strengthen its position as leading supplier of bearings and seals to the world automotive industry. Virtually all the major mechanical systems on Ford's new Mondeo are equipped with either bearings or seals or both from the SKF Group. Over the production life of Ford's new Mondeo, SKF will supply over Euro 100 million worth of products. All four corners are fitted with SKF hub bearing units, the front incorporating magnetised encoders, for the ABS & TCS systems, within the seal assembly. The rear units feature SKF's latest design enhancements, including pre-assembled active speed sensors. The front struts are fitted with MacPherson strut bearing units with integrated upper spring-seat. The special SKF-design of the bearings provides significantly improved friction behaviour, with improved driving performance. Seals and bearings are supplied for the steering arrangement and the power assisted steering pump. The gearbox is fitted with a range of customized bearings, each engineered to meet the transmission's specific requirements. The 2.5L V6 engine carries front and rear-crank seals and camshaft seals from SKF's sealing business, Chicago Rawhide. The broad range and number of SKF products on the new Mondeo reflects well the breadth of the Group's product and engineering offering to this highly competitive global market.
