SKF supplies Siemens with sensorised railway bearing units

SKF has been chosen by Siemens Transportation Systems to deliver sensorised compact bearing units, CTBU, for Siemens SF 400 bogies for a new generation of passenger coaches that will be manufactured by Corifer in Italy. The passenger coaches will be delivered to the Italian train operator Trenitalia.

The sensor signals from the bearing units will be used for the anti-skid brake system, the automatic train control and for the security system of the doors. This order comprises 2000 bearing units and axleboxes including options. The first deliveries started this year. SKF is the leading rolling bearing supplier to the world railway industry.
