HAWAII’S HIGHEST OPEN-AIR LOUNGE TO OPEN 19 STORIES ABOVE WAIKIKI
Skybar Waikiki to Enhance the Waikiki Business Plaza and Waikiki Shopping Plaza’s Resurgence As a Premiere Dining, Shopping and Entertainment Destination
HONOLULU, May 29, 2013 – Raising the bar will become a lofty distinction for a new, modern lounge and tapas bar scheduled to open next spring on the corner of Kalakaua and Seaside Avenues.
Hawaii’s highest lounge, aptly named Skybar Waikiki, will be located on the 19thfloor of the Waikiki Business Plaza and will boast a signature wrap-around outdoor lanai (patio) to allow guests to feel as if they were sitting at the edge of a cloud.
Guests can choose from two full bars; one inside, the other outdoors, set under the vast Hawaiian skies. This indoor/outdoor floor plan measures more than 9,000 square-feet and consists of distinct guest environments ranging from the serene and intimate to the lusty and lively. The décor is unified by architectural design elements inspired by the natural beauty found only in Hawaii.
Skybar Waikiki was designed to accommodate all guests and occasions. Beachgoers and shoppers can dress casually while marveling at Waikiki sunsets. The chic and classy can experience the sexiest new nightspot in Honolulu.
The 3,000 square-foot lanai is bordered by seamless glass railings that allow for unobstructed views of the world-famous Diamond Head Crater and the crystal-clear blue waters of Waikiki Beach and the Pacific Ocean. The bar was artistically-crafted with aqua-colored tempered glass and its coral-inspired countertops are homage to Waikiki’s beaches below.
A separate, intimate lounge bridges the indoors and outdoors with two rows of cushy sofas and lounge tables facing each other that make for easy conversation. The room features lighted walls from floor-to-ceiling that are choreographed to illuminate to the music. An oversized window facing the lanai frames the room with sky and stars.
“Skybar Waikiki will be a unique sensory experience to capture limitless views, refreshing trade winds and feel the pulsating vibes of Waikiki,” said Darren Seu, Vice President, Skybar Waikiki. “Skybar Waikiki was meticulously-designed from the mood lighting, color palate in each room, even the positioning of the furniture.”
Special ambient lighting effects were a key design feature used throughout to accentuate hallways, recessed ceilings, luminous table tops and the dance floor. Lighter colors are used to soothe while deep reds, purples are meant to stimulate passion.
Skybar Waikiki will feature one of the most technologically-advanced entertainment systems in Hawaii, equipped with a regionalized sound system and a 30-foot wide HD video wall.
All design aspects from the color schemes and accessories to the furniture were geared towards women who appreciate attention to detail. The powder room is rich and sensual with dark wood finishes that feature two full-sized wall mirrors, make-up shelves and comfy lounge seating with built-in drink holders.
The ladies room is modern and airy with natural accents such as a large marble slab vanity, brown herringbone tiled floors, stone-tiled walls, floor-to-ceiling mirrors and shimmering wallpaper that adds sparkle. Six separate stalls are divided from floor-to-ceiling to offer extreme privacy.
One of Skybar Waikiki’s most dramatic views was meticulously-planned to make the ordinary amazing. The vanity is designed with six counter-to-ceiling windows more than 5 feet high to experience a “live painting” of glowing sunsets and glittering city skylines.
“The modernization project to develop the Waikiki Business Plaza and Waikiki Shopping Plaza as a premiere shopping and entertainment venue will be complimented by Skybar Waikiki,” explained Kainoa Akina, Marketing Manager, Skybar Waikiki. “Additionally, we recently opened Victoria’s Secret, Armani Exchange and will soon introduce Hawaii’s very first Love Culture and H&M stores.”
Initial construction will begin this summer with plans for a Grand Opening celebration in spring 2014. Food and beverage menus are in development. Skybar Waikiki will be open daily from the early evening to late-night. Free, convenient validated parking will be available for all Skybar Waikiki guests.
