Smartports signs agreement with Upsala Golfklubb – investment in EV charging and shaded parking
Upsala Golfklubb is investing in Smartports’ PAC 14 solution to enhance the service offering for all visitors while creating new revenue streams on its existing parking area.
Smartports has signed an agreement with Upsala Golfklubb for the installation of a PAC 14 facility on the club’s parking grounds. The solution will be available to everyone visiting the golf course and will offer both guests and members shaded parking combined with electric vehicle charging – an initiative that enhances the overall visitor experience while activating a previously underutilized area.
The selected solution, PAC 14, includes carport-covered parking spaces with integrated EV charging for up to fourteen vehicles and is designed for long-term operation over a 20-year lifespan. By combining charging infrastructure with integrated energy storage, Upsala Golfklubb can future-proof its facility and meet the growing demand for charging options among both members and visitors.
“More and more of our guests are asking for the possibility to charge their electric vehicles during their visit. With Smartports’ solution, we can offer increased comfort and a clear sustainability benefit, while also creating new revenue opportunities without using additional land,” says Marcus Eidelöf of Upsala Golfklubb.
For Smartports, the agreement is another example of how parking areas at high-traffic destinations can be transformed into energy hubs that strengthen both operations and the customer experience.
“Golf clubs and other visitor-intensive facilities often sit on large, untapped values in their parking areas. By combining shaded parking with EV charging, it is possible to both improve the visitor experience and meet today’s and tomorrow’s needs,” says Peter Abrahamsson, Sales Representative at Smartports, responsible for the Upsala Golfklubb project.
The installation is planned to be completed during 2026.
