The Municipality of Surahammar is taking a significant step toward future‑ready, sustainable infrastructure in collaboration with Smartports. The initial roll‑out covers three locations — two PAC4 and one CAP2 — providing a total of 10 Smartports with integrated chargers. The solution combines on‑site solar generation and reliable charging while load‑balancing the local grid. The sites are located at Folkets Hus, on Kapellgatan, and at GF Arena.

“ This shows Surahammar’s commitment to future‑proof solutions. Together with Smartports, we can offer modern parking solutions that make everyday life easier while benefiting the environment,” says Mikael Berg, Technical Manager at the Municipality of Surahammar.

“ Surahammar’s investment in this type of solution is highly meaningful. It reframes the parking area — from a simple car park to a local energy resource with community value,” says Julian Lundberg, CEO and founder of Smartports.

Measurable climate and energy impact

The three sites are expected to generate about 27,500 kWh of renewable electricity per year and could avoid roughly 28 t CO₂ in total over 20 years. Actual figures depend on operations, utilization and the future power mix.

Next steps and partnerships

This collaboration strengthens Smartports’ focus on municipal partnerships, with the ambition to scale the concept to more municipalities in Sweden as well as Denmark, Norway and Finland.
