More power and superior value for the industry-leading switcher range

IBC2014, Booth 8.B70: Newbury, UK, September 12, 2014 – Snell, the leading innovator of broadcast technologies and services, has today announced the introduction of an all new Kahuna switcher range. Kahuna 4800, Kahuna 6400 and Kahuna 9600 offer more fire-power and flexibility than ever before and with added 4K capabilities across the entire range.

Combined with Snell’s new flexible switcher control surface, Kahuna Maverik - perfect for every type of studio and mobile programming - the Kahuna 4800/6400/9600 provides a hugely bolstered feature set, including more power for Mix Effects (M/E) functionality and enhanced DVE resize engines, enabling chroma key capabilities on all keyers and 2.5D DVE on all models in the range. The range specifics are as follows:

  • Kahuna 4800 – Up to 4 M/Es, 16 keyers
  • Kahuna 6400 – Up to 12 M/Es, 24 keyers
  • Kahuna 9600 – Up to 24 M/Es, 48 keyers

“These enhancements give our industry-leading switcher range even more power. The added performance and 4K capabilities ensure that our customers are able to future-proof their infrastructures and productions for whatever the future brings,” said Robert Rowe, managing director of Live TV at Snell. “Importantly, the improvements to the Kahuna range mean extra fire-power at a new affordability level.”

Further enhancements to production workflows for social media are also now supported, allowing user-generated content to be directly uploaded to the switcher’s internal store and made ready for air. For more information, please visit the Snell stand at IBC2014, 8.B70.
