Become a BBQ ‘smoking’ master
Weber Grill Academy launches brand new cookery course for autumn
The Weber Grill Academy in Oxfordshire – the UK’s only dedicated barbecue cookery school – has launched a new ‘Smoking Methods’ course which teaches barbecue fans how to master the art of ‘smoking’.
Proving to be the trend in barbecuing for 2011, theGrillAcademy’s interactive, full day course gives barbecuers experience in the methods of hot and cold smoking. Head tutor Clare Kelly will divulge her innovative tips on how to create different types of flavours using a variety of chips, chunks, planks, papers and items found in the average back garden.
GrillAcademyguests will also learn how smoking adds flavor and tenderises meats, ensuring that even the most basic of ingredients is transformed into a delicious culinary delight. The smoking recipes are carried out on Weber’s charcoal and gas barbecues, and will include cold smoked cheese, smoked roasted red pepper and tomato soup, lavender infused creams and wood plank burgers.
The Grill Academy located in Marsh Baldon, just a few miles south of Oxford, opened in summer 2010 and in just a year has trained more than 1,000 barbecue enthusiasts. The cookery school also offers the fun and informative ‘Thrill of the Grill – Part 1’ course which is open to all skill levels and aims to expand barbecue knowledge and recipe ideas. There is then a ‘Part 2’ class to take those skills a step further, with lessons on using specialist accessories to further build on the tips and tricks picked up in ‘Part 1’.
The ‘Smoking Methods’ class costs £120 per person and will run from 10am – 4pm on the 10 September and 14 October 2011.
