New HQ for Softcat
New headquarters supports plans for growth
Marlow, UK, 21 October 2011 – Softcat has completed the purchase of a new HQ home. This follows the rapid expansion of the company over the last two years in which time the company has doubled both turnover and headcount. Softcat will not have far to move – the new building is next door to its current headquarters in Marlow. The new office space has a floor area of 27,000 sq ft., which is more than 50% larger than its current building.
Softcat has also recently taken larger offices for its fast growing Manchester branch. Meanwhile its London office, which the company established 12 months ago, is home to approximately 50 employees. The company now employs 400 people in the UK and intends to recruit another 160 team members during this financial year.
“We are rapidly running out of desk space in our current building – it’s just not big enough to support our future growth,” said Martin Hellawell, managing director, Softcat. “While I wouldn’t say it’s at all easy at the moment, business remains very strong and we intend to keep growing and keep on recruiting. It’s exciting to have a new home to move into and we’re looking forward to kicking off the next phase of the Softcat journey from there.
“When it comes to a working environment, people are far more important than buildings, but I hope we can use our new home to continually improve Softcat as a workplace for our employees. If anyone out there would like to sell us something for our new home – sorry, but please do not contact me; I have a van and we intend to buy everything we need in the Ikea sale.”
The company will take its time on the move and expect to be fully installed towards the end of 2012.
