Marlow, UK, 18 November 2011 – Last night Softcat achieved the rare feat of winning ‘Reseller of the Year’ twice in a row at the CRN Channel Awards, the channel’s premier awards evening. The IT provider also celebrated its one-of-a-kind chairman and founder Peter Kelly, whom CRN named ‘Channel Personality of the Year’.

After reviewing nominees’ presentations, a panel of IT industry figures concluded that Softcat should retain the ‘Reseller of the Year’ accolade, the most important reseller award of the evening. Actor and comedian Jack Dee presented Softcat with the ceremony’s most prestigious award in front of over 1,600 guests at Battersea Park Events Arena in London.

The award recognises “excellence in the delivery of solutions, service and support to end-user customers”. Thanks to its relentless focus on employee and customer satisfaction, Softcat continued its rapid growth in the year ending July 2011. In just two years it has doubled its turnover to £220m, and its headcount to 400. The company has seen significant growth in its corporate customer base from existing and new customers. Effectively from a standing start, the last year has also seen Softcat grow significantly in the public sector.

“We are delighted to receive this coveted award for the second year in succession. I think it’s a great way of recognising the amazing contribution of all our employees, particularly the unsung heroes behind the scenes,” said Martin Hellawell, managing director of Softcat. “I don’t think we’re doing anything clever, we’re just keeping and recruiting excellent people, continually broadening our offering and always striving to get better at everything we do. We still have an awfully long way to go.”

“We have our employees’ enthusiasm, hard work, and strength of character to thank for our success. And it is Peter Kelly, our founder and chairman, who has been the driving force in building the business around our people, and shaping a culture they find rewarding. When it comes to personality, I’ve never seen a bigger one than Peter’s so the title of ‘Channel Personality of the Year’ award is very fitting, and we are delighted that CRN has acknowledged his efforts in this way.”

In addition to its CRN Channel Award, Softcat has won a number of other awards and accreditations in the last two years, including Dell UK and EMEA Partner of the Year, HP Mid-market PSG Reseller award, Mimecast Premier Partner of the Year, Sophos Mid-Market Reseller of the Year, and Symantec Commercial Partner of the Year.

In 2010, Softcat was named The Sunday Times’ No.1 Best Small Company to Work For, following a rigorous and in-depth qualification and audit process.
