Marlow, UK, 10 November 2011 – Symantec has confirmed Softcat’s position as a Platinum Partner in its newly restructured partner programme. The security software company’s tightened, more rigorous accreditation process confirmed Softcat as a trusted provider in five areas of specialisation – two more than the minimum required for Platinum accreditation.

As of November this year, in addition to completing online examinations, Symantec’s reseller partners must prove in face-to-face demonstrations that they have a solid technical understanding of Symantec software, and that they also have the skills needed to support customers with hardware, services, and any other software licensing required to deliver a complete solution. In short, the accreditation means that Softcat can provide, to a very high standard, everything from presales advice and product demos to solution design, implementation and troubleshooting.

Glenn Graham, UK channel director at Symantec, said, “Our partner community is extremely important to the Symantec business, and partners are firmly viewed as an extension to our organisation. The Specialist Partner program serves to officially validate the partners who have proved to us their outstanding capabilities in their specialist areas. Softcat are a shining example of a key partner not only embracing the new program, but confirming to us that they deserve their high regard within the Symantec business.”

Lance Williams, Symantec business manager at Softcat, commented, “It’s great news that Symantec has introduced extra rigour to its accreditation process. Now the words ‘Platinum Partner’ mean even more to us, and to our customers.”

Softcat won ‘Symantec Commercial Partner of the Year’ at the UK 2011 Symantec Channel Excellence Awards. The company provides every product in Symantec’s portfolio, and currently holds specific Symantec specialisation accreditations in archiving and e-discovery, data protection, endpoint management, and encryption.
