Softcat’s ghouls and goblins to dig deep for charity

Marlow, UK, 31 October 2011 – Softcat employees turned up to work today looking distinctly more ghoulish than usual. The IT provider is throwing a fancy dress party this evening to celebrate Halloween and to mark the end of another exceptionally successful quarter.

Anyone visiting the company’s headquarters today will be greeted by witches, devils, scarecrows, skeletons, vampires and other assorted horrors. Any employees who choose not to dress up will donate money to Softcat’s charity of the year, the Wooden Spoon cancer care unit at Stoke Mandeville Hospital.

Softcat and its employees and partners have a track record of raising large sums of money at charity events. At the May Ball this year they raised £65,000 for good causes. On Red Nose Day, the company doubled its employees’ donations to Comic Relief, raising a grand total of £24,000.

“What better way to finish our fantastic quarter on a high note than to throw a little party?” said Martin Hellawell, managing director of Softcat. “In the last financial year our turnover exceeded £200m for the first time, and our headcount recently shot past 400. This new financial year looks to be every bit as promising, so we are constantly on the lookout for talented jobseekers who can help support our rapid growth.”

Softcat’s selected charity for 2011 is a specialist unit at Stoke Mandeville Hospital that provides a comprehensive service of cancer care and support, helping patients from the moment they are referred, through confirming diagnoses to arranging the best treatment. It offers advice and support on living with cancer – everything from local support groups to complementary therapies, hair care and benefits advice.
