Softcat shoots past the £300m revenue mark

Marlow, UK, 31 July 2012 – Softcat’s turnover has reached £300m, just as its financial year draws to a close. Its impressive rate of growth shows no sign of abating: it was just one year ago that the IT provider burst through the £200m revenue barrier with a full-year turnover figure of £219m.

The company has been recruiting heavily to ensure it can keep ahead of customer demand. Its headcount has doubled to almost 450 staff in the last two years and is expected to reach 500 within the next few months. It is currently planning its move to a new head office in Marlow, Buckinghamshire, to help support its expansion.

Softcat, which has been profitable since inception, attributes its growth and increasing market share to its ability to attract and retain talented, hard-working employees. In October 2010 it chose to open an office in London, reasoning that the capital would be one of the best places to recruit, given that so many bright graduates choose to live there. Softcat also has a substantial office in Manchester with over 100 employees, which is the primary location for its rapidly growing public sector team.

“In the next financial year we will continue to focus our energy on our employees and customers,” said Martin Hellawell, Softcat’s managing director. “It is the hard work of the Softcat team and positive attitude towards our customers that will drive us towards our next big revenue milestone, and the one after that.”

He added: “As well as celebrating yet another successful year, at the end of this month we will say farewell to our chairman Peter Kelly, who is retiring. We will miss his energetic personality and stay true to the vision on which our company was founded.”

Softcat appeared on both the UK’s and Europe’s Best Workplaces lists, compiled by Great Place to Work, this year. It aims to recruit over 200 new employees in the next 12 months, and invites talented individuals interested in applying for sales, account management and support positions to visit its website and call 01628 403 408 for more information.
