Bayer Settles Yaz Lawsuits

Bayer has agreed to settle about 70 of the approximately 11,300 pending Yaz lawsuits that were filed against the drugmaker.

According to Lawyers USA Online, the dangerous drug lawsuits claimed that taking Yaz and Yasmin can cause heart attacks, gallbladder failure, and strokes. The complaints also alleged that Bayer failed to warn medical professionals and patients of these adverse side effects.

All pending Yaz lawsuits in federal court have been consolidated in multidistrict litigation in Illinois.

In recent studies, Yaz was found to cause a greater risk of blood clots compared to other types of birth control.
