Bumbo Baby Seat Continues to Raise Safety Concerns

Report this content

The popular Bumbo baby seats are still a concern to parents because infants continue to tumble out of the seats and suffer injuries.

According to the Chicago Tribune, even when parents use the Bumbo seat as directed - on the floor with adult supervision - babies are still falling out and suffering broken legs, cracked skulls and other serious injuries, reports the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

The Bumbo seat was voluntarily recalled in October 2007 after the manufacturer was bombarded with reports of infants experiencing skull fractures. Bumbo did not make any changes to the product and instead added a label the reads: “Prevent falls! Never use on any elevated surface.”

Advocacy groups and a coalition of children’s health are urging the CPSC to remove the Bumbo seats from the market until all safety concerns are resolved.
