Kitchen Appliances Lead to Thousands of Complaints

Kitchen appliances top the list for most complaints on an online product safety database that was launched last year by the U.S. government.

According to the Associated Press, one-third of the more than 6,500 reports filed to SaferProducts.gov were primarily from kitchen products. The products with the most complaints were electric ovens and ranges with 638 reports as well as dishwashers with 440 reports. Other categories that had a high number of complaints included toys, home climate-control systems, nursery equipment, and footwear.

About 97 percent of the complaints were filed by consumers with the remaining complaints coming from government agencies, medical professionals, and public safety officials.
