The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs agreed to pay $940,000 to settle medical malpractice lawsuits that claimed a veteran medical center caused the death of eight patients between 2005 and 2008.

According to the Coshocton Tribune, in 2011, a Dayton VA Medical Center doctor was accused of using improper dental hygiene for years. Records revealed that there were 72 medical malpractice lawsuits against the medical center since 2007, with eight of them including a death. Of the total claims, 22 involved the dental department.

Sixteen of the pending lawsuits seek nearly $6.7 million.
