Wrongful Death Lawsuit Filed by RI Woman

A Rhode Island woman filed a wrongful death lawsuit against a popular hotel chain claiming a gas leak at one of its inns caused her husband’s death.

Louise J. Moran is suing Holiday Inn Express alleging her husband’s death was a result of carbon monoxide poisoning while he was a guest at the hotel, according to the West Virginia Record. She claims that her husband’s room became “contaminated and polluted with carbon monoxide to a level of toxicity that caused him to die.”

The wrongful death lawsuit says that because he was a paying guest, he was entitled to a proper safe room, clear and free of dangers, including toxic substances. The complaint also says that the Holiday Inn negligently performed repairs to the pool heater in December 2011, which caused the gas leaks in the guest rooms.

Moran seeks punitive and compensatory damages.
