class-action sex abuse lawsuit filed on behalf of victims of child sexual abuse by former pediatrician Earl Bradley has settled for $123 million.

The Associated Press (AP) reports that the lawyers for the Medical Society of Delaware and the hospital where Bradley worked have come to a settlement that will be placed into a trust for the benefit of the victims. The settlement is compiled from insurance proceeds as well as a cash contribution from Beebe Medical Center, since Bradley had hospital privileges there.

The defendants named in the lawsuit are Beebe, the Medical Society of Delaware, and five physicians who did not report suspicions about Bradley to the authorities.

A plan submitted in court proposes that the claimants be separated into five categories based on the harm suffered by them and the need for therapy. All children falling under one category will receive the same compensation, reports AP.

Bradley was arrested in 2009 after a young patient complained to her mother that he had hurt her. Investigations revealed videotapes of sexual violations of young children, mostly toddlers, writes AP. Bradley is already serving 14 life sentences for child rape.
