Aaron’s Settles Sexual Harassment Lawsuit for $6M
Aaron’s agreed to pay $6 million to settle a sexual harassment lawsuit filed by a former associate who claimed she was sexually harassed by a former manager at the furniture and appliance rental company.
The final settlement is a much smaller figure than the originally jury verdict from June 2011, which awarded the plaintiff $95 million. The award exceeded the maximum allowed by $50 million, subsequently leading a judge to reduce it to $39.8 million.
A January hearing on Aaron’s post-trial motions found the initial jury verdict to be excessive and a judge ruled not to sustain it, leading to the agreed upon settlement, according to the Associated Press.
