Ab Circle Pro Makers Sued Over False Fitness Claims

The U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) announced that the marketers of a fitness product will have to pay as much as $25 million in customer refunds to settle a consumer fraud lawsuit that accused them of making false claims about the product.

The Ab Circle Pro was advertised in infomercials as helping pitchwoman, Jennifer Nicole Lee, to shed 80 pounds and start a career as a fitness model, according to Reuters.

The marketers named as defendants in the complaint include: Tara Borakos, Tara Productions Inc., New U Inc., Fitness Brands Inc., Fitness Brands International Inc., Michael Casey, David Brodess, Jennifer Nicole Lee, JNL Inc., and JNL Worldwide Inc.

Under the settlement, the marketers are banned from misrepresenting the device or other fitness products as well as from making false advertising claims in the future about the Ab Circle Pro.
