Apple Continues to be Sued Over Siri in Consumer Fraud Lawsuits

Consumers took another bite out of Apple’s Siri in a consumer fraud lawsuit that claims the voice-activated personal assistant program for the iPhone 4s does not operate as promoted.

David Jones filed a complaint against the corporate giant in a Los Angeles U.S. District Court alleging that Apple oversells Siri’s abilities in television commercials and advertising, according to the Los Angeles Times. Jones’ complaint initiates a class action consumer fraud lawsuit on behalf of all consumers who purchased the iPhone 4s and seeks to recover financial relief as well as damages.

The consumer fraud lawsuit states: “Through its nationwide multimedia marketing campaign, Apple disseminates false and deceptive representations regarding the functionality of the Siri feature.”

The class action also alleges that the Siri would either not understand what Jones would ask for or provide the wrong answer after a long period of time.
